The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) says that recent floods in Afghanistan have increased the need for emergency shelter to 4.2 million people.
UN-Habitat emphasized urgent action to address this situation in a statement on Wednesday, April 8.
The message stated: “Every family deserves a safe place to call home.”
The Taliban have announced that more than 958 houses have been destroyed, and 4,155 other houses have suffered minor damage.
Most provinces in Afghanistan have experienced heavy rain and floods over the past two weeks.
