Kabul – Donor countries plan to decide on Afghanistan’s frozen money and its transfer to the country by December 10, Reuters quoted the World Bank.
Donors to the Afghanistan Reconstruction Trust Fund (ARTF), managed by the World Bank, have agreed to decide on the transfer of funds to the humanitarian aid agency within another week, Reuters quoted the World Bank’s spokesperson on Saturday, December 4.
The decision was made on Friday, December 3, according to the World Bank spokesperson.
Meanwhile, Reuters had earlier reported that the World Bank delegation this week supported the transfer of $280 million from the ARTF to the World Food Program (WFP) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
On the other hand, Afghanistan’s assets were frozen and cash aid from international organizations was suspended since the Taliban took control. This situation has overshadowed the people’s economy and they are now facing severe economic problems.
Earlier, the United Nations had reported that Afghanistan’s GDP had fallen to less than 20 percent since the Taliban takeover. It called the current situation in the country the worst economic collapse in history.
