Local sources in Khost have reported a tragic incident where the elderly mother of a former military officer suffered a fatal heart attack following the Taliban’s hostage-taking of her husband and two sons.
Sources confirmed to Hasht-e Subh that this woman experienced a heart attack on Wednesday, October 11th, in the center of Khost province and tragically lost her life.
According to sources, this woman had a heart attack after the Taliban detained her husband and two sons four days ago and transferred them to an undisclosed location.
Sources indicate that the Taliban have taken the father and two brothers, hostage, because another son of this family was a former member of the previous government’s police forces and currently resides outside the country.
The former military officer is identified as Afsar-Khan Noori, who managed to escape after the Taliban regained control of the country.
It’s important to note that the Taliban had previously detained, tortured, and imprisoned members of Noori’s family on two occasions.
Since their return to power, the Taliban have faced repeated accusations from human rights organizations regarding atrocities, torture, and the imprisonment of former government military personnel. However, the group has remained unresponsive to these allegations.
Additionally, the Taliban detained several military personnel and government employees in the provinces of Paktika, Khost, and Takhar last week, and their fate remains unknown to date.
