Bahrain has condemned Iranian missile attacks on its territory and Kuwait, describing them as a flagrant violation of sovereignty and a threat to the security of the Persian Gulf.
Al Jazeera reported on Saturday, June 6, that Bahrain said it successfully intercepted seven ballistic missiles launched by Iran.
According to the report, Bahrain has accused Iran of violating UN Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026), which condemns Iranian attacks and any attempts to close the Strait of Hormuz or disrupt international shipping.
Bahrain has also called on Iran to immediately stop what it describes as unjustified attacks, fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz without restrictions, disclose the locations of naval mines, and allow more than 20,000 stranded sailors to safely leave the region.
Iranian media reported earlier today that two US military bases in Kuwait and the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain were targeted in missile attacks by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Iran claims that the strikes on Kuwait and Bahrain were carried out in response to US drone attacks on communication infrastructure on Qeshm Island and in the Sirik area of Hormozgan province.
Despite the announcement of a ceasefire and negotiations between Iran and the United States, the two sides have engaged in sporadic exchanges of fire in the Persian Gulf in recent weeks.
