Yemen’s Houthi movement says it has attacked two Saudi Arabian oil tankers using missiles and drones.
According to Al Jazeera, reporting early Thursday, July 23, the attacks came after the Houthis announced a maritime blockade against Saudi Arabia.
In a statement, the Houthis said they had carried out a military operation targeting two Saudi oil tankers that they claimed had violated the blockade.
Earlier, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said it had received reports of an attack on an oil tanker off the coast of Al Shaqiq in Saudi Arabia.
The reported attack comes as tensions between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia, which had eased in recent years, have escalated once again.
