Ireland Provides 500,000 Euros in Aid for Kunar Earthquake Victims
The Irish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that it will donate 500,000 euros to the Red Cross and Red Crescent in response to the Kunar earthquake.
The Irish Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Thursday, September 4, that this aid has been allocated by Simon Harris, Ireland’s Deputy Prime Minister, to the earthquake victims in Kunar.
The Deputy Prime Minister stated, “This earthquake has brought complete devastation. Relief operations will be very difficult because the area is mountainous and remote. Landslides and blocked roads make reaching the affected people time-consuming.”
This Irish official has called on the international community to take urgent action to help the earthquake victims in Kunar.
The Irish Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarified that this country has contributed three million euros to the “Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund” this year.
It is noteworthy that some countries have declared their readiness to help the victims of the earthquake in Kunar and Nangarhar.
The Taliban, in their latest statistics, have said that the death toll has reached 1,457 people, and the process of extracting bodies from under the rubble is continuing.
