Kabul – The Taliban border forces have beaten many journalists in the Torkham passage in Nangarhar province where most people are gathered to go to Pakistan, according to the reports.
Sedaqat Ghorzang the Tolo News reporter in eastern provinces who had gone to the Torkham passage to make a report has been beaten by the Taliban border forces, Tolo News reported.
Ghorzang says that coordination had been earlier made; however, after beating him up, the Taliban border security forces threw out his camera, media equipment to the lake, and they broke his cellphone.
According to the Tolo News report, “After interviewing with the commissioner of the Torkham passage, we went near to the Torkham gate with one of the commissioners for providing a report, and suddenly the border of the Torkham passage guards hit us without asking any questions, then they threw out our media equipment to the river, after that they kept me for a while inside the commissioner, then they broke my cellphone, and yet I don’t know where my camera is,” Ghorzang said.
Tolo News has seriously called on the authorities to follow up on the incident.
Another reporter is also said to have been beaten in Torkham.
Taliban haven’t said anything about the case yet.
There have been previous reports of journalists being beaten. Last Thursday, a number of journalists were also beaten in Kabul.
