The Ministry of Refugee and Repatriation of the Taliban regime reports that Pakistani police have deported 837 Afghan refugees from the country in the last two days. In a statement on its X (formerly Twitter) page on Saturday, April 20, the ministry disclosed that these refugees entered through the Torkham and Spin Boldak border crossings in Nangarhar and Kandahar provinces.
The statement indicated that these refugees returned to Afghanistan on Thursday and Friday, April 18 and 19. The Pakistani government initiated the second phase of forcibly deporting Afghan refugees from the country on April 15 of this year. Approximately 550,000 Afghan refugees returned to the country in the first phase of deportation from Pakistan.
Pakistani police forcibly deported a large number of these refugees. The Taliban and international organizations have repeatedly urged the Pakistani government to halt the deportation of Afghan refugees. Information suggests that at least 400,000 Afghan refugees will be deported from Pakistan in the second phase of deportation.
This follows recent reports from Pakistani media of the deportation of over 8,500 Afghan refugees from the country.
