Pakistani authorities have confirmed the assassination of a senior police commander in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
According to a report from Geo News, the victim, identified as Ejaz Khan, was fatally shot during clashes with armed adversaries of the Pakistani government in the Mardan area on Tuesday, February 27.
The exchange resulted in the deaths of two armed opponents while three Pakistani police personnel sustained injuries.
In a separate incident, unidentified motorcyclists gunned down a Pakistani police officer, identified as Qaisar Khan, in Peshawar last night.
Pakistan has been grappling with significant unrest over the past couple of years.
On February 5, in the aftermath of an assault on a military outpost in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, at least 10 Pakistani police officers were killed, and six others sustained injuries.
