The construction of the first phase of the fourth section of the Herat-Khaf railway, stretching 43 kilometres and costing $57.111 million, has been completed, and this section of the railway has been inaugurated.
The Taliban-controlled Bakhtar News Agency reported on Monday, September 28, that the inauguration ceremony was attended by Abdul Karim Fateh, head of the Taliban Railway Authority, the deputy minister of trade of Kazakhstan, the Taliban governor of Herat, and a number of traders.
Abdul Karim Fateh, head of the Taliban Railway Authority, said the project was constructed in cooperation with a Kazakh company.
He added that the completion of this section of the Herat-Khaf railway would facilitate faster and more cost-effective transportation of goods.
The Herat-Khaf railway connects Afghanistan to the regional rail network through Iran and is important for the transportation of goods between Afghanistan and countries in the region.
