The Taliban governor of Jaghori district in Ghazni province has directed all residents to repair the transportation routes in their villages promptly. In a written directive signed by Mawlawi Hafiz Faizi, the Taliban governor of Jaghori district, and distributed to village elders with a copy reached the Hasht-e Subh Daily, it emphasizes the urgent need for villagers to repair transportation routes.
The written directive states, “Your transportation routes have sustained damage from winter, snow, and rain and require immediate repair. All villagers must participate in repairing these routes.” The letter warns that failure to comply with this order will deprive residents of assistance and privileges. Additionally, the Taliban governor has instructed village elders to identify individuals who do not participate in this “collective effort” and report them to the district administration for punishment.
This directive follows a trend where the Taliban have been collecting significant sums of money under the guise of alms, zakat, and charity from Afghanistan’s impoverished population for the past two and a half years, without providing basic services. There have been numerous reports of forced participation by residents in public projects in this district previously.
In the latest development, residents of Jaghori district, Ghazni province, have taken the initiative to construct a school building at their own expense.
