The Washington Post, citing U.S. officials, has reported that the United States Department of War is preparing for weeks of ground operations in Iran.

The media reported on Sunday, March 29, that these plans may include special forces raids and conventional infantry operations.

According to the report, it is unclear whether U.S. President Donald Trump will approve the plan or not.

As the war in Iran enters its fifth week, Trump has deployed U.S. Marines to the Middle East.

Previously, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio had said that Washington could strike its targets in Iran without ground operations as well.
