The WHO Chief Visits Kabul Amid Crisis in the Country

8 Subh, Kabul: Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), has arrived in Kabul on Monday.

The caretaker minister of the Taliban for of Public Health, Wahid Majrooh, told 8 Subh that the Director of the WHO, Tedros Adhanom, had arrived in Kabul along with a delegation on September 20.

On this trip, the Director of the WHO will be accompanied by the President of the Eastern Mediterranean Basin of the WHO, the Director of Emergency Situations of the Eastern Mediterranean Basin and the Polio Officer for the Eastern Mediterranean Basin.

Meanwhile, Tedros Adhanom tweeted that the WHO stands by the country to help the Afghan people.

Meanwhile, World Bank aid to health projects has been cut off following the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan.

Continuing to help with health projects will probably be one of the topics discussed during this trip.

Many health-related institutions have warned that Afghanistan’s health care system may fail.
