Pakistan police announced that an overturned truck in the southwest of the country claimed 13 lives and left 30 others injured. Reuters reported the incident occurred on Thursday, April 10, in the Hub area of Balochistan province. According to the police, the truck, transporting pilgrims to a shrine, plunged into a deep ditch beside the road. They attributed the cause of the incident to the truck’s high speed. The police anticipate a rise in casualties.
Pakistan ranks among the countries with a high number of traffic incident casualties annually. Major factors contributing to the increase in traffic incidents in Pakistan include the large population, substandard roads—especially in remote and rural areas—and drivers’ non-compliance with traffic laws.
