Donald Trump has said that once the situation stabilizes, the United States will take control of and destroy what he described as Iran’s remaining nuclear material.
According to Al Jazeera, Trump said on Saturday, June 13, that the United States would assume responsibility for collecting and eliminating the “remaining nuclear material.”
The US president added that Washington is eager to cooperate with Iran and the broader region in the future, saying such efforts could contribute to greater stability and security in the Middle East.
At the same time, Trump warned that if the process does not unfold as expected, the United States has “another final option” available, though he stressed that he hopes it will never be necessary to use it again.
Trump’s remarks come after his earlier statements indicating that Iran and the United States were nearing the signing of an agreement, which he said could lead to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and a reduction in regional tensions.
