In response to the ban on girls’ education, 16 university lecturers have resigned from their positions in support of the ‘All-or-No-One’ campaign launched by citizens to defy the Taliban’s regressive decision.
Mohammad Omar Kundzi, lecturer at Kunduz University, Obaidullah Wardak, lecturer at Kabul University, Dr. Zakaria Shanizai, lecturer at Kabul Polytechnic University, Jawid Momand, lecturer at Kabul University, Mohammad Hadi Asadi, lecturer at Polytechnic University, Nasir Seerat and two other university professors in Herat and Nimruz provinces have resigned Wednesday to condemn and defy the Taliban’s order.
In the latest case, two lecturers at Bamiyan University and one lecturer at Nangarhar University have resigned from their positions to protest the Taliban’s order.
Nangarhar University lecturer, Khalid Zia, and Bamiyan University lecturers Hadi Nawandish and Mustafa Kamel Mohammadi resigned from the academic boards on Wednesday by publishing their resignation letters on social media.
“I am resigning from my job in support of my sisters and will not go to work until the gates of universities are reopened for girls,” Khalid Zia posted.
In his resignation letter, Hadi Navandish stated: “I am announcing my resignation in protest against the Taliban’s decision to deprive girls of education. Every member of society should have access to education without gender discrimination.”
Mustafa Kamel Mohammadi stated that the Taliban’s order is a clear violation of the rights of women and girls, therefore, he stops working as a University lecturer.
