The US Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) has reported no change in the difficult economic situation of Afghan families.
SIGAR reported on Saturday (November 12th) that the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan has remained dire in the last three months.
Almost half (24.4 million) of Afghanistan’s population have resorted to rationing out food or skipping meals as crisis coping strategies to meet their basic needs, SIGAR said.
Based on the data published by SIGAR, after the Taliban seized power in August 2021, drought, high food prices, bankruptcy in the banking system, lack of liquidity and lack of job opportunities have had a negative impact on the financial sufficiency of families.
