The British government has announced that Sirajuddin Haqqani, the Taliban’s acting interior minister, and Jalaluddin Haqqani, the former leader of the Haqqani network, remain subject to sanctions, including asset-freezing restrictions.
The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) updated its sanctions list on Thursday, August 27, stating that information related to Sirajuddin and Jalaluddin Haqqani had been updated.
According to the notice, both men remain under sanctions and their assets must be frozen.
Individuals and organizations are also prohibited from dealing with their assets without authorization from UK authorities or from making financial or economic resources directly or indirectly available to them.
The British government has instructed relevant organizations to immediately freeze any accounts, money, or economic resources belonging to the two men and report them to the authorities.
The UK Foreign Office warned that violating sanctions regulations or attempting to evade them is a criminal offense.
