Local sources in Badakhshan report that a house-to-house inspection process has been initiated by the Taliban in the city of Faiz-Abad following a rocket attack on the residence of Qari Wasil, a commander of the Taliban in the province.
According to local sources speaking to Hasht-e Subh Daily on Monday, December 4th, one day after the visit of Fasehuddin Fetrat, the Taliban’s Military Command Chief, to Badakhshan, houses in the city are being inspected under his orders. Unpleasant and insulting confrontations with residents have been reported in some instances.
Sources emphasize that the Taliban’s house-to-house inspection process covers 115 houses around the command headquarters in Faiz-Abad. This includes the guesthouse of provincial authorities, which serves as the residence for armed individuals affiliated with the Taliban’s governor for Badakhshan.
The initiative is said to be a response to the rocket attack on Qari Wasil’s residence and the commander affiliated with Fasehuddin.
It is worth noting that this attempt at house-to-house inspection by the Taliban is not a new occurrence. Similar searches have been conducted in various provinces, including Kabul, targeting the houses of the people in the past.
