Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov said at the opening of the eighth “Moscow Format” meeting on Afghanistan that participating countries seek equal cooperation with the Taliban based on mutual interests.
Lavrov emphasized the continuation of regional dialogue on the situation in Afghanistan in his opening remarks at the meeting on Monday, October 5.
The Russian foreign minister said participating countries in the Moscow Format are seeking cooperation with the Taliban based on mutual interests.
He also welcomed the end of the two-decade presence of Western countries in Afghanistan.
The “Moscow Format” was established in 2017 at Russia’s initiative. Under the framework, representatives of regional countries discuss political, security and economic developments in Afghanistan.
