Pakistani media outlets have reported that the number of expelled migrants from Pakistan to Afghanistan has reached close to 500,000 individuals.
On Sunday, December 24, Radio Pakistan reported that, so far, 446,097 Afghan migrants have returned to their country.
The report states, “The repatriation of illegal foreign nationals, including Afghans, to their homeland continues in a dignified and secure manner.”
The ongoing process of forcibly deporting Afghan migrants from Pakistan coincides with the announcement by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), stating that in 2024, approximately 23.7 million people, constituting more than half of Afghanistan’s population, will require humanitarian aid.
OCHA, on Saturday, December 23, in its latest report, stated that Afghanistan’s fragile economy, heavily reliant on humanitarian assistance, is facing numerous challenges.
