The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation of the Taliban has announced that 527 Afghan migrants have been released from prisons in Pakistan.
The ministry said in a statement on Thursday, April 30, that the individuals had been released over the last week.
These detainees returned to the country via the Spin Boldak and Torkham border crossings.
In images released by the Taliban, women are also included among those who have been released from prisons in Pakistan.
Pakistani police have intensified the arrest of Afghan migrants.
Sources say that Pakistani police are extorting and blackmailing migrants.
Amnesty International had previously called on Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, to stop the arbitrary arrests of Afghan migrants.
