Senior Taliban leaders, including Mullah Baradar and the head of the supreme court, visited Farah province in southwestern Afghanistan to watch the public execution at the football stadium.
Sources detailed that senior members of the Taliban cabinet were present at the public execution, conducted on Wednesday (December 7th) at the Football Stadium. These Taliban leaders include the Taliban’s Supreme Chief Justice, Deputy Prime Minister, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, Foreign Minister, Amir Khan Mutaqqi, Interior Minister, Sirajuddin Haqqani, Minister of Vice and Virtue, Education Minister, Justice Minister, Chief of the Administrative Office of Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, Taliban Spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, the governor of Kandahar and Herat governor.
The Taliban have said that they executed the sentence of “Qisas,” also known as retribution-in-kind, on a resident of Injil district of Herat province, named Tajmir, who was accused of murdering a resident of Pusht-e-Koh district, Farah province.
An independent source confirmed to Hasht-e Subh that today a woman will be stoned to death and two men will be executed publicly at Farah Football Stadium. The Taliban have confirmed the execution of one person.
Hibatullah Akhunzada, the Taliban’s secretive leader, very recently ordered its forces to fully enforce the very same Islamic law punishments, known as Sharia, which inexplicitly follows the principle of ‘Qisas,’ known as retaliation in kind or retribution.
Public executions carried out by the Taliban have spiked outcry among rights advocates. The move undoubtedly marks the beginning of the Taliban’s rollout of strict Islamic law across the country.
