Pakistan will verify reports of ISKP’s alleged attack on Pakistan’s embassy in Kabul.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan said on Sunday (December 4th) that it will independently investigate the validity of this claim in consultation with the Taliban, according to Geo News Pakistan.
“We have seen reports that IS-KP has accepted responsibility for the terrorist attack on the Pakistan Embassy compound on 2 December 2022. Independently and in consultation with the Afghan authorities, we are verifying the veracity of these reports,” Geo News quoted Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Mumtaz Baloch.
The attack was another reminder of the threat that terrorism poses to peace and stability in Afghanistan and the region, she added.
Pakistan’s embassy compound in Kabul came under attack on Friday (December 2nd) aimed to assassinate its envoy to Afghanistan, Ubaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani. It was reported that only one embassy guard, named Israr Mohammad, was wounded.
ISKP released a statement today, claiming that two of its members had carried out the attack on the Pakistani ambassador and his guards.
The attack on the Pakistani embassy in Kabul has been widely condemned. A bunch of western diplomates have called this assassination attempt a terrorist act.
