Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov has said that Russian President Vladimir Putin will travel to Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.
TASS reported on Friday, August 28, that the SCO summit will be held in Bishkek from August 31 to September 1.
According to the report, the summit will be attended by the leaders of the SCO member states. Some 20 to 25 documents, including the Bishkek Declaration, are expected to be adopted.
Ushakov said that on the first day of the summit, Putin will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
According to Ushakov, Putin will also meet with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on September 1.
The leaders are expected to discuss the situation in Ukraine, developments in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf, as well as international issues.
Meanwhile, Afghanistan, which holds observer status in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, has not been invited to the organization’s summit since the Taliban returned to power.
