Sources in Takhar told Hasht-e Subh that a young man had been shot dead by a Taliban commander. According to locals, the man had a record of joining the public uprising forces against the Taliban in the province.
According to sources, the young man, named Nematullah, had killed the Taliban commander’s son in the past.
Nematullah, who had just returned from Iran, was shot dead in front of his family on Saturday (November 6) in the Saraysang area of Taloghan.
He had recently been deported from Iran and had decided to return to the village, confident of a Taliban amnesty. Taliban forces had arrested him as soon as they learned of his return.
In the pictures provided to Hasht-e Subh Daily, the young man is wearing a red dress and a black Afghani Wasket (vest).
The images also show a Taliban commander wearing a white turban and his soldier firing on Nematullah.
Local Taliban officials in Taloqan have not yet commented on the incident.
Concerns over the deaths of former soldiers have risen in recent days.
Some soldiers sent an open letter to the media on Saturday, saying they were being harassed and would do anything if efforts to assassinate them continued.
