The Taliban’s Vice and Virtue Promoters in Kandahar ordered female employees of local clinics and health centers to refrain from going to work without being accompanied by male guardians (mahram).
A reliable source in the Taliban-run Public Health Department in Kandahar reported this order was verbally communicated to the employees on Sunday.
The Taliban have already banned women from working with national or international Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs).
The Taliban government has allowed only female health workers to work with NGOs.
