Taliban Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock Attaullah Omari has discussed expanding cooperation in agriculture, livestock, irrigation and agricultural product marketing with Turhan Saleh, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) representative for Afghanistan.

The Taliban Ministry of Agriculture said in a statement on Thursday, October 1, that Omari identified the lack of markets for selling agricultural products as one of the major challenges facing the agriculture sector.

The agriculture sector in Afghanistan faces challenges including limited access to suitable markets for selling products, restricted access to irrigation facilities, and weak agricultural infrastructure.

In some cases, farmers sell their products at low prices due to the lack of suitable markets.
