
US Secretary of Defence Called for International Pressure in Order to Reach a Political Agreement in Afghanistan
8 Subh; Kabul: US Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin has called for international pressure to reach a political agreement and end the war and violence in Afghanistan.
“Afghanistan’s security situation is increasingly driven by international pressure to reach a political agreement through negotiation to end this conflict so that the people of Afghanistan have the government they want.” Austin tweeted.
He has said that the whole world can help keep up the pressure.
The secretary of defence did not elaborate on the manner and mechanism of this international pressure.
He made the remarks as about 90 present of US troops withdrew from Afghanistan as the Taliban attacks escalate.
The United States is committed to assisting Afghan security forces continuing its civilian and humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan.
