The human rights organization Hengaw has reported that Iran executed Torat Mohammadi, a 42-year-old Afghan citizen, on charges of “espionage” at the Central Prison of Karaj.
Hengaw reported on Thursday, October 1, that Mohammadi was originally from Mazar-i-Sharif and was the father of four children.
According to the report, the Afghan citizen was executed secretly and without informing his family.
The organization said that before his arrest, Mohammadi had worked at an institution affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
According to Hengaw, Mohammadi was arrested about two years ago and was interrogated for seven months at an IRGC intelligence detention facility.
The organization added that Mohammadi’s death sentence was carried out on September 23 without prior notice to his family or lawyer.
