A senior United Arab Emirates official has expressed optimism about the nuclear negotiations between the United States and Iran but warned that the possibility of a military confrontation between the two countries remains, adding that the UAE is preparing for the worst-case scenarios.
Fox News reported on Saturday, November 7, that Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, a senior Emirati official, expressed hope that the nuclear talks between Washington and Tehran, mediated by Qatar, would lead to greater trust between the two sides, pointing to signs of progress in the negotiations.
Al Nuaimi expressed hope that the United States and Iran would be able to resolve their differences through diplomacy and prevent another war.
However, he stressed that the risk of a military confrontation remains and that the possibility of conflict cannot be ruled out.
“We are planning for the worst-case scenario and hoping for the best outcome,” Al Nuaimi said.
This comes as the United Arab Emirates was targeted by more than 3,000 Iranian missiles and drones earlier this year.
