The Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF) has reported clashes between its forces and the Taliban in Zebak district of Badakhshan province, saying the Taliban suffered heavy casualties and losses in the fighting.

In a statement issued on Sunday, August 23, the front said the Taliban launched attacks from several directions on the positions of Freedom Front forces in Zebak that morning.

The statement said that Freedom Front forces responded with a counterattack, following which the Taliban withdrew from the area after suffering casualties and losses.

According to the front, the bodies and wounded Taliban fighters were transferred to the Zebak Clinic and the health center in Baharak district following the clashes.

The Freedom Front added that its forces had maintained their positions and had also redeployed to several other strategic locations.
