Against All Odds: Afghan Female Student Overcomes Taliban Restrictions and Wins Four Scholarships in the US

A female student from Afghanistan who traveled to the United States for higher education has succeeded in receiving four prestigious scholarships from American universities.

Farida Razaqi, who obtained her first master’s degree in Environmental and Natural Resource Law through the Fulbright program at the State University of New York in Buffalo, has been accepted into Harvard, Columbia, the State University of New York in Buffalo, and Cornell University, all while receiving scholarships.

These scholarships are in the fields of Law Masters, Climate and Society Masters, Doctorate in Law, and Public Policy Master in International Development. She can choose one of them for further studies.

Razaqi was a law and political science student at Herat University and traveled to the United States in 2021 for further studies. Alongside her studies, she has been involved in promoting women’s rights and supporting girls’ education.

This Afghan student obtained four prestigious scholarships at a time when Taliban closed the doors of schools and universities to girls, and girls in Afghanistan are deprived of education.
