Local sources say clashes have erupted between residents and ethnic Pashtun Taliban in Yaftal-e Payin District of Badakhshan Province, and the situation in the area remains militarized.
Sources told the Hasht-e Subh Daily on Saturday, August 1, 2026, that the clashes began this afternoon between residents and the Taliban, with both women and men from the community standing up against the Taliban.
It is reported that during the incident, one woman beat three Taliban fighters with a wooden stick.
Sources also report that several people were killed or wounded in the clashes, although the exact number of casualties has not yet been confirmed.
At the same time, sources say that the Taliban intelligence office also came under attack, but no further details about the incident are currently available.
The clashes come as tensions have escalated in parts of Badakhshan Province in recent weeks.
