Asif Durrani, Pakistan’s former Special Representative for Afghanistan, has described the deportation of Afghan medical students as “shocking.”
On Tuesday, September 8, he said on X that the deportation of these students, particularly young women who have faced significant difficulties in pursuing their education, is a humanitarian and ethical issue.
Durrani added that education is not merely a privilege for these women and that returning them to Afghanistan could put their futures at risk.
He called on Pakistan to reverse the deportation decision and allow the students to continue their education.
The issue comes as educational restrictions in Afghanistan and the deportation of Afghan students from host countries have raised growing international concerns about their educational futures.
