Some of the injured protesters in Herat say that, out of fear of arrest and Taliban crackdowns, many of the wounded were taken to their homes instead of being transferred to hospitals.

They told the Hasht-e Subh Daily on Tuesday, June 9, that women and men injured as a result of direct Taliban gunfire have been deprived of access to basic medical care.

According to them, many of the injured have avoided going to hospitals, and families have instead taken the wounded to their homes.

Some of the injured also confirm that Taliban forces are present in hospitals, identifying the wounded and arresting their family members.

The Taliban have violently suppressed the public protests.
Videos from the crackdown on the demonstrations also appear to show Taliban fighters firing directly at protesters.
