The Taliban said that 223 families, comprising 999 people, were returned to Afghanistan through various border crossings yesterday.
Hamdullah Fitrat, the Taliban’s deputy spokesperson, said in a statement on Thursday, September 17, that 91 families, comprising 454 people, returned to Afghanistan through the Torkham border crossing.
According to the statement, 23 families returned through the Spin Boldak border crossing, 39 families through the Nimroz border crossing, and another 16 families through the Islam Qala border crossing.
Meanwhile, the forced return and deportation of Afghan migrants from Iran and Pakistan continues.
Reuters said in a recent report that the worsening economic crisis in Iran has forced more Afghan migrants to return to Afghanistan, despite the Taliban’s widespread restrictions, particularly those imposed on women and girls.
