US President Donald Trump has once again claimed that the war with Iran will end “very soon,” despite an increase in attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.

Al Jazeera reported early Thursday, October 15, that Trump repeated the claim during a rally in Bullhead City, Arizona.

According to the report, Trump also claimed that Iran had lost its navy, air force, radar systems and air defenses.

“Their first-tier leaders are gone. They went to the second tier, and their second-tier leaders were gone, too. Then they went to the third tier. Half of them are gone as well. They asked me to promise not to eliminate anyone else, and I agreed and gave them my word,” he said.

Trump acknowledged that the attacks had complicated negotiations with Tehran. “Maybe I went a little too far. I apologize, because I no longer even know who we’re dealing with,” he said.

However, Trump has made similar claims about the war with Iran and the situation in the Strait of Hormuz before.
