Local sources have reported a tragic incident in Kabul where armed robbers targeted and fatally shot a former government soldier who had transitioned to taxi driving in the city. The incident occurred on Tuesday night, December 26, in the fourth security district of Kabul.
According to the sources speaking to the Hasht-e Subh Daily, the victim has been identified as Faqirahmad Shirzad. The armed robbers not only took his life but also seized his car and money in the process.
Faqirahmad, the cousin and driver of Wais Ahmad Barmak, the former Minister of Interior in the previous government, turned to taxi driving in Kabul following the government’s fall.
Sources reveal that Faqirahmad left behind six children and was originally a resident of the village of Dorkhil in the Rokha district of Panjshir province.
It is noteworthy that, since the resurgence of the Taliban, there has been a noticeable increase in armed robberies, often carried out using the name and military equipment associated with this group.
Citizens of the country are accusing Taliban members of involvement in such criminal events, further highlighting the security concerns faced by the people in the wake of the recent changes in government.
