The Gaza Government Media Office has warned that thousands of bodies remain buried beneath the rubble of destroyed buildings across the Gaza Strip, and that recovering them has become an “unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe.”
Al Jazeera reported on Saturday, September 5, that Director-General Ismail al-Thawabta of the Gaza Government Media Office, warned of the serious consequences of thousands of bodies remaining buried under the rubble.
Al-Thawabta said the scale of the crisis is beyond Gaza’s capabilities, as Israel’s blockade on the entry of heavy machinery and equipment remains in place.
He also referred to the attack on the Engineers’ Building in the south of the Nuseirat refugee camp on October 31, 2023.
The director-general of the Gaza Government Media Office added that 106 bodies have so far been recovered from the site, while “hundreds” of others remain buried under the rubble.
