Ali Fadavi, head of the advisory group to the commander-in-chief of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), has claimed that there are no U.S. vessels in the Persian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz, Gulf of Oman or even the northern Indian Ocean.
Tasnim reported on Sunday night, October 4, that the Iranian general claimed Iran had maintained full control over the Strait of Hormuz in recent months.
According to the report, Fadavi claimed that the Americans had fled and moved more than 1,000 kilometers away from Iran’s borders.
He said, “Americans have been present in the Persian Gulf since 1853, but now, for the first time, there is no U.S. vessel not only in the Persian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz and Gulf of Oman, but even in the northern Indian Ocean.”
The Iranian general made the claim as Iran remains under a maritime blockade by the United States. A few days earlier, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said that since the start of the maritime blockade of Iran, the country’s share of oil exports through the Strait of Hormuz had fallen to zero.
