Pakistani Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar and his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi held a phone conversation on the regional situation and Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic efforts for peace and stability in the region.
Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Monday, May 4, that Araghchi appreciated Pakistan’s “constructive role and sincere mediation efforts between the parties.”
The statement added that Dar also emphasized Pakistan’s continued commitment to promoting constructive engagement, noting that dialogue and diplomacy are the only viable path to the peaceful resolution of issues and to achieving lasting peace and stability in the region and beyond.
This comes as Iran is reported to have presented a 14-point proposal to end the war with the United States, which Trump has described as “unacceptable.”
