The Taliban have announced that 317 families, comprising 1,556 Afghan migrants, were returned to Afghanistan yesterday.
Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesperson for the Taliban, said in a statement on Tuesday, August 25, that 185 families, comprising 990 people, returned to Afghanistan through the Torkham crossing.
According to the statement, 22 families entered Afghanistan through Spin Boldak, 100 families through the Nimroz border, and 10 families through the Islam Qala border.
These returns come as the deportation and forced return of Afghan migrants from Pakistan and Iran continues.
However, international organizations have previously warned that Afghanistan has limited capacity to receive large numbers of returnees and have called for increased humanitarian assistance.
