On the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, Al-Qaeda’s media arm, As-Sahab, released a video featuring Hamza bin Laden, the son of Osama bin Laden.
The Axis of Information analytical platform reported on Friday, September 11, that in the video, Hamza bin Laden described Islam as being engaged in an “all-out war.”
According to the platform, a notable aspect of the latest video is the relative clarity of the location where it was recorded, unlike some previous releases in which traceable information had been removed.
The platform said this could indicate increased operational and media confidence within Al-Qaeda’s network.
However, the Axis of Information platform added that the latest appearance is consistent with statements by former Afghan national security officials, including Ahmad Zia Saraj, the former head of the National Directorate of Security, and Ajmal Obaid Abidi, the former deputy director of operations at the agency, who had reported Hamza bin Laden’s presence in Kandahar and, at times, Panjshir.
