Seventeen Afghan citizens who were attempting to migrate to Iran have died of thirst in the Mak-Sukhta area along the border in the Roudak region of Saravan.
The Haalvsh Human Rights Organization reported on Monday, September 14, that five members of one family from Baghlan were among those who died, including a 45-year-old mother and her four daughters, aged between 14 and 22.
According to the organization, the incident occurred on Thursday, September 10, after the men became separated from the group, leaving the women and children stranded in a dry desert.
Haalvsh said the bodies of those who died were transferred to Khash because the morgue in Saravan did not have enough capacity.
