Lithuania’s National Crisis Management Centre has reported that a NATO fighter jet shot down a drone in the country’s airspace.
Reuters reported early Tuesday, September 15, that the drone had likely entered Lithuania from Belarus.
According to the report, Lithuania’s National Crisis Management Centre said the drone was shot down in the southern part of the country.
Meanwhile, the unintentional entry of military drones into the airspace of Russia’s neighboring countries has raised concerns about the war in Ukraine spilling over into NATO territory.
Previously, there have also been reports of Russian drones and ballistic missiles entering the airspace of NATO member states, including Poland.
