Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi has met with Rosemary DiCarlo, the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs.

The Taliban Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Saturday, October 3, that the meeting discussed the state of cooperation between the Taliban and the United Nations, humanitarian assistance, and the needs of migrants who have returned to Afghanistan.

The meeting also stressed the importance of joint efforts to ensure the sustainable integration of returnees.

According to the statement, Afghanistan’s needs regarding climate change and water, as well as the situation in the region, were among the other topics discussed.

The two sides also discussed finding new opportunities within the framework of the Doha Process and stressed cooperation that would produce practical results.

The Taliban Foreign Ministry said the meeting also highlighted the importance of using accurate information and reliable sources to ensure more balanced reporting and assessments concerning Afghanistan.

Concerns over civilians being harmed in Pakistani airstrikes were also raised, with both sides stressing the importance of protecting civilians and preventing similar harm.
