The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has reported that an oil tanker was hit by an unidentified projectile off the eastern coast of Oman.

Reuters reported early Saturday, October 3, that the tanker’s captain notified UKMTO about the incident.

According to the report, UKMTO said the tanker was targeted about four nautical miles east of Oman.

The British organization said no crew members were injured and no environmental damage was reported.

It remains unclear which country was responsible for the attack on the tanker. However, Iran has previously been identified as the primary suspect in similar attacks.

Meanwhile, tensions between Iran and the United States over control of the Strait of Hormuz remain high, raising concerns about a renewed military confrontation.
