Attaullah Tarar, Pakistan’s minister for information, has announced that Pakistan carried out air and drone strikes on 10 locations across Afghanistan in retaliation for drone attacks allegedly carried out by the Taliban a day earlier.
Tarar wrote on X on Thursday, September 24, that Pakistan conducted the strikes as part of its sovereign right to self-defense.
He added, claiming that the strikes were “deliberate, precise, calculated and proportionate,” that they were limited to identified military targets directly linked to efforts to attack Pakistan.
The Pakistani official described the previous day’s alleged drone attacks by the Taliban as a clear violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Pakistan’s minister for information and broadcasting warned the Taliban against carrying out attacks on Pakistan, saying Islamabad “will neither accept nor tolerate” attacks originating from Afghan territory.
This comes two days after Pakistani fighter jets also carried out airstrikes on areas in Paktia and Kunar provinces.
