Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Qatar’s prime minister and foreign minister, has emphasized economic cooperation with Lebanon and called for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon during a meeting with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun.
Anadolu reported on Saturday, October 17, that Al Thani said Doha was working to develop comprehensive solutions for Lebanon’s energy sector.
According to the report, Al Thani said he had discussed regional and international developments with Aoun, particularly the situation in southern Lebanon and what he described as “Israel’s occupation measures” against the country.
Reaffirming Qatar’s support for Lebanon’s efforts, he stressed the need for Israeli forces to withdraw from occupied Lebanese territory and hand over those areas to the Lebanese army.
Southern Lebanon has remained under Israeli occupation for several months, while negotiations have so far failed to secure the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the area.
